AZIZA AHMADI

Spent the summer of 2015 working in Hakalau, Hawaii on an organic farm. Learned to grow and harvest a variety of edible plants. I spent every evening helping cook a meal for the farm crew. In addition I helped construct a hut pictured above out of mostly reclaimed wood. Making delicious dinners and building cozy spaces are two of my strongest passions!
SKILLS I'VE GAINED THROUGH MY OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES
+ Punctual time management + Effective team and independent tasks
+ Design and Build experience + Project Adaptivity and Flexibility
+ Pragmatic growth based mentality + Creative problem solving
+Cooking with a fire or camping stove +Use of variety of hand and power tools

From this experience I learned to work effectively with a crew for 3 months of consistent living in the woods and traveling around the wilderness lands of Colorado. We had to work together as a team and approach challenges with cooperation, flexibility, and maintain a strong work ethic during 12 hour days. Cooking healthy meals with a camping stove on a low budget every night together was another task that was done consistently.
Another interest of mine has become freelance writing on the travel blog called uncovercolorado.com. Here is the link to my article which features some places I got to visit while on the conservation corps program. https://goo.gl/B6Kkd7
Since early August of 2016, I retrofitted my Honda CR-V into a mobile traveling setup. I have 4 wheel drive and have been able to access many dispersed camping areas all over the Rocky Mountains! I enjoy backcountry exploring very much and have had a lot of time to see amazing places and make a variety of healthy, low budget delicious dishes! I also wrote an article on the benefits and challenges I faced living in a mobile setup. https://goo.gl/RZ7dpC
Spent the Fall of 2016 working on a crew of 11 on conservation building projects across Colorado! We had projects near Great Sand Dunes National Park, Mount Evans Wilderness, Carbondale, Indian Peaks Wilderness and Boulder Flatirons. Projects ranged from building a 130 foot bridge, to cross cutting down trees on a back country trail and volunteering with a wolf sanctuary!
